Learning animation in college is an exciting and challenging experience. I learned that writing a good story and designing characters were not in my skillset, however, I did enjoy the technical side such as doing the animation and compositing.
I found myself enjoying the process of animation and seeing my effort come to life even if it was just for a few seconds. Although I enjoy animating, there are times when I experience burn out and losing the motivation to work. It is incredibly important to take breaks from time to time so that we can keep ourselves refreshed and inspired.
Taking in criticism was also quite an overwhelming experience at first, but learning to take constructive feedback was essential for me to improve on my skills.
I'm not really good at drawing or animating. I mostly love writing however I do love seeing animations made by people especially made by Filipinos. I'm not an artist however I do believe that everyone has room for growth and I hope that the animation here in the Philippines will be recognized more.
I think we can all agree the Pandemic was one of the most hopeless and isolating experiences we all have shared, though within the pandemic is also when I found my passion for Pixel art!!
I was super into Minecraft, so much so that I'd see the resource packs people would make and go "Man. Maybe I can make that."
One thing led to another, I started by making crude impressions of a Pink Diamond
Despite the subpar output, I found myself wanting more. Wanting to do more.
These all snowballed into me exploring the pixel medium and meeting some of the best people and seeing the best art ever
Somehow I found hope in a sick dying and lonely world. I found solace in clicking pixels to make cute little pictures to share with my friends
Continuous Growth of PH Media Representation
Quote from Pensyo Pedia on August 1, 2025, 3:47 amAlthough there had been several local media's that were able to convey the reflection and parallels of Philippines before, it is a rare instances to be an untimely product for audiences to remember such work. Recently, PH arise the niche that has become more prevalent such as Anime, K-Drama, K-pop, Donghua instead of sole Western Media getting promote and merchandised. These influences slowly gave the aspiring artists as well as professional artist ideas of giving their own take that is especially heavily themed of PH Culture whether that may be in social norms, food, fashion, general way of living representation. And this has continuously flourished as there are films that either "reboots" original PH materials (i.e. Rocketsheep's Zsazsa Zaturnnah) or new materials were being created by younger artists whether it would be form of games, short films, posters, and whatnot which is quite refreshing and honestly fulfilling to learn there are creatives who are willing to learn and try to convey their learning through their artworks, and witness as they pour all their heart and souls on those said works that may be imminent. Hoping to see future projects the bring further colors of PH Culture.
